Maca de Castro
Chef at Maca de Castro* (Alcúdia, Majorca, Spain)
The Mallorcan chef has been earning her position in Spanish gastronomy through tenacity and discretion with her own proposal, which is increasingly linked to the territory.
Maca de Castro comes from a family dedicated to the hotel and catering business and despite having started studying Fine Arts, she finally turned to cooking. She made up her mind after attending a talk by Carme Ruscalleda at the San Sebastian Gastronomika and she began to consolidate her steps in the kitchens of Hilarioi Arbelaitz, another shy cook - like her - whom she deeply admires, Andoni Luis Aduriz, Arzak, Julián Serrano...
In 2012 she won her first Michelin star, to which she now adds the Michelin Green Star. His flagship restaurant is Maca de Castro*, in Alcúdia, and in 2020 he opened Andana, located inside the old train station in Palma de Mallorca. But she has also ventured abroad: in Uruguay (a restaurant she decided to close) and in Düsselforf (Germany), 20grad.
She is shy and does not like to be in the spotlight, preferring to stay in her kitchen and her vegetable garden, where she gathers what she needs for her dishes every day.
