Tasting session
The diversity of climates and soils in the Canary Islands
A presentation of six white wines made in the same way on two different islands with contrasting soils and climates.
The wines of Bodega Tamerán in Gran Canaria and Suertes del Marqués in Tenerife are made by Jonatan García in the same way, trying to respect the variety, climate and soil type of both islands.
Suertes del Marqués was founded in 2006 by the García family in the Orotava Valley, and produces a total of 20 different wines using only native grape varieties, 100% of which are grown in the Pie Franco vineyard. David Jiménez Silva started Tamerán in 2019, and its vineyards are located in the centre of the island of Gran Canaria on the southern slope. It produces 6 different wines, with both wineries sharing the same philosophy in terms of both viticulture and winemaking.
